CD Rugby Albéitar claim important win in Santander

CD Rugby Albéitar continued their impressive season cruising past Independiente in Santander, securing another bonus point win - the third consecutive this season - that sets our team up and running on the table. The early stages of the match offered a hard-fought contest between the two packs, who took little time to warm to the occasion and hit each other with everything they got. It was the visitors, however, who took the upper hand and managed control of the oval, providing their reshuffled backline with precious possession. The locals had their tails up and showed fierce determination, but Albéitar controlled the set-piece and impressed especially from the lineout with a powerful rolling maul the Cantabrians knew not how to stop. Four first-half tries secured the offensive bonus and allowed the tourists to make changes that will help them to keep progressing in their game. Independiente started the second spell with renewed determination and assailed Albéitar's 22 during the first minutes, showing strength at the contact but, in the end, being unable to take advantage of their occasions. Albéitar reacted quickly and started to dominate again, scoring four more tries that took the score to the final 0-42.
